Båtbyggeriet Tunarps Kvarn specialises in rowing boats originating from the coastal districts of North Eastern USA. We are also curious about other constructions of carvel built epoxy laminated hulls. Contact us if you are interested and want to know more.

The boat building began in 2006 and is situated in a renovated flour mill, built ca 1850, with water flowing just a stone's throw away. In this environment we build what we call lifestyle boats. We turn to rowers and nature lovers who seek a greater outdoor experience.

We co-operate with the Newfound Woodworks in New Hampshire, USA and can offer you most of what is available there. We complement with Swedish materials and knowledge.

We mainly build rowboats, but will also make kayaks on request. Rowboats are comprised by EU directive, which means that they need to be CE marked. If a rowboat is built commercially, or if it will sold within 5 years, the directive applies and it needs CE approval. Kayaks, canoes and training boats are not included in this directive and therefore do not need CE marking.  

We adapt our constructions to EU regulations and leave recommendations to self-builders on what applies to European conditions.

We have separate pages for each model, we have added courses, material and links. There is also a link to a building a diary/gallery lots of pictures, and other events that have taken place here at Båtbyggeriet Tunarps Kvarn. Also new is a page on material, and one on upcoming building and introductory courses.

We have a stripmilling machine with which we can produce profiled strips 4-5 and 6.35 mm – more dimensions will be added when needed. After the plank has been split the rest is made in one operation.

We have in stock Low viscosity resin slow an medium hardener and Biosolv to clean tools with.

MAS has a large spectra of epoxy products  and  we begin with these products.

We have lots of strips in stock 4-5-6,3 mm swedish spruce (close to knotfree) length from 5 m and falling.

Cedarwood for rowing boats comes from Newfound Woodworks because its supreme quality and as their designs most . Canoe and Kajak strips we mill our selv.

A 17 ft Rangeley nr 2 is under construction. The the  fiber and epoxy works has started on the Rangeley. The Wee Lassie in the shop has got its primer layer next is the fiberglasing. You can follow the work on the gallerypage.

Boatdesign nr 151 a new pullingboat with slideseat (one or two slideseats). Design parameters about  6 m in length, beam 0,95, cm weight  about 40 kg. Most important parameter for the designer was rowing speed  5,5 - 6 knots at a pace of 22 strokes a minute which is easy for the average rower. It will be launched this spring.
